Sarah Frances Chambless is the daughter of Grief Chambless and Jane Taber.
Grief was, born about 1805 in Arkansas?, married about 1835 in Arkansas, died about 1897 in Winslow, Washington Co, Arkansas, his father was Aran Chambless. Grief is reported to have been married to an unknown Betty before Jane Taber (Tabor ?) little is yet known by us about Jane except that she is reported to have died in 1863. Research of the interesting listing of her death, the deaths of her youngest two sons John and Jeff and second daughter, Jane, all in 1863, reveals that all four of them as well as the three children of the daughter Jane, died during the Civil War in a measels epedemic.
Grief , according to family, died while fighting a fire on his property one night. While fighting the fire he fell off of a cliff, the fall killed him. Grief had, according to his grandson Delbert Wall, lived on the property for 43 years.
